The Business Growth Show marks it 10th Anniversary in style!!
The Business Growth Show has marked its 10th anniversary in style, with its most successful exhibition and conference to date – held at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham on Thursday, 30th March.
Attracting over 1,000 visitors and 100 exhibitors, the event kicked off at 10am with a keynote speech from Candidate for West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street CBE, who was accompanied by the Rt Hon David Gauke MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
Setting the theme for the day, the message from Andy was clear and simple for Birmingham’s business community – ‘The future can be bright’ – where statistics revealed the city boasts the highest percentage of Start-up growth in the UK, outside of London.
Other highlights included a well-attended Women in Business panel, speed networking, and over 100 hours of free business advice given through 30 influential speakers, which also included BBC Apprentice candidate, Rebecca Jeffery and BBC Broadcaster and Producer, Merisha Stevenson.
Mark Linton, Managing Director of The Business Growth Show, confirmed: “Thanks to the success of The Business Growth Show over the pasts 10 years, I have witnessed thousands of professionals meeting new customers, establishing new relationships and feeling inspired by our speakers and exhibitors – and last month’s event certainly didn’t disappoint!”
“I have received extremely positive feedback from exhibitors and attendees alike, with the majority expressing interest for September’s event, which will be even bigger and better.”
Let’s Talk Brexit… and Trump!
It’s the buzzword on everyone’s lips, [Not forgetting Snap Election] – but nearly one year on, it seems the country is more divided and confused than ever. On the day Donald Trump took Presidency in the United States, I wrote an article about what this means or represents, and feel it beneficial to share a few key thoughts with you all.
The Death of Globalisation
The popular movement of taking back control and starting again may see the death of globalisation. With the rise of digital age it seemed for a while that the movement of trade was getting easier. However, it now seems that world leaders are revolting against the popular movement of globalisation by suggesting ‘not on my watch’. This is not to say social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram won’t have their space in the future. Although the restriction on movement of people around the world may see the decline in digitally collaborating with each other without the presence of its people working in those countries it wants to do business with.
Vote for Change
What is clear is the American people voted for change and the chose a non- political giant such as Trump to say ‘enough is enough. In U.K we voted Brexit. Now we are left to wonder what that means and how it will effect us with our trade relations not only with Europe but the rest of the world.
What is is apparent, is the unrest in the EU after the UK’s Brexit announcement -Has the UK started a dominos effect in politics and greater control over sovereign borders? Do we no longer have to back this decision, now a Snap Election has been issued? Time will only tell. But for the meantime businesses will have to carry on regardless.
Franchising – Why Franchising?
Franchising is a fantastic way to start and run your own business or add an additional revenue to your existing – it provides you with an opportunity to earn a high income but with the support and backup of the franchisor behind you. A franchise reduces the risk of failure.
Starting a new business always carries a risk – new businesses are vulnerable.
This is fantastic time for the business to re-launch its new franchise offering with new business partners Andy Moore and Eddy Ankrett who run Franchise Objectives. We are particularly interested in businesses owners, entrepreneurs who wish to add an additional revenue stream or work part-time by running two show a year in their area. We have areas which businesses are enquiring about exhibiting in for London, Reading, Milton Keynes, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh.”
